Email Marketing - How to get started
As you can see I've just launched a new new letter and website on Internet Marketing. Great idea - problem is nobody knows about it!
One method to increase traffic is back linking to increase Google rankings along with lots of good content based around key words people will search for. I'll be doing this, but the draw back is it is a competitive niche, and a large proportion of people visiting my sight may never return, and may leave without clicking any links for which I get paid.
However if you provide enough valuable content, people may want to hear more. Then if you build a list of interested followers you can draw them back by offering more content in a news letter or promoting the new material added to your site. You can even make offers directly to your mailing list. If this product solves a problem for your viewers it is a great way to generate sales without generating further traffic to your website.
You don't just have to be trying to promote a website or sell digital products. How many emails do you get from Amazon, Ebay, or physical stores promoting new products or sales they have on? This is all email list marketing. The average American spends more time in front of a computer now than they do a TV – so why not promote yourself there through their email?
But how do you develop a list?
Well just about every time you give an email address when you buy something or subscribe to something you will be getting added to a mailing list. So if you have a good customer base start collecting their email and add them to your list. Make sure you are spam friendly by allowing an easy way for them to opt out and be removed from the list.
A popular method is to offer something for free but the customer has to give their email address to receive the free product in the mail. This requires more internet marketing skill and exposure, and not everybody has something to give away for free. There are many online ebooks and courses about developing a “product” or you could just use an ebook that is giving away the resale rights.
But if you aren't into internet marketing and just want to promote your physical product or business, you could give away a discount coupon, which must be delivered to their email address.
Another method is a membership mailing service. ListJoe is free to use, but like most “free” online products you'll get the best value from the service upgrade your account. As a free member you need to open other people's emails to earn credits to be able to send your own marketing emails. Reading other marketing messages is a great way to learn ad copy and “squeeze” pages, but you don't want to be forced to do it. The gold membership offer was $97/year just recently when I signed up to start building a new list. You only get the offer once, so decide from this point whether you intend to do it or not. With a gold membership you can send 3,000 emails every 3rd day and you don't have to read anybody else's. Again, its a good idea to study the ads and landing pages in what you receive, no better way to learn then from those already good at doing it!
